Designed in California and built in Japan, Wavestate SE includes a premium 61-note keyboard with aftertouch, in an all-metal chassis. Built for a new era of musicians, composers and producers, Wavestate SE features hundreds of dynamic sounds, extensive hands-on control and 120 notes of stereo polyphony to inspire new levels of creativity.
A sonic evolution
In 2020, Korg introduced the Wavestate. Far from a nostalgic reissue, it took cues from Wavestation, OASYS, Kronos, modular synths, groove boxes and algorithmic composition and delivered something completely new. Expanding this exciting, ever-evolving and inspirationally expressive concept, Wave Sequencing 2.0 comes alive in Wavestation SE.
Premium, expressive touch
Featuring a 61-key natural-touch keyboard, Wavestate SE feels incredible to play. The inclusion of aftertouch gives fingertip control of the unique constantly changing sound. All factory presets have been meticulously programmed to take full advantage of this expressive control.

Wavestate SE’s all-metal design is as hard-wearing as it is beautiful – with a matte- black aluminium panel complimented perfectly by gloss-black stainless-steel sides. The premium finish continues to the controls themselves, where metal-plated knobs are perfectly weighted and add a luxurious touch.

The Wavestate SE puts filters, envelopes, LFOs, effects and more at your fingertips with dedicated front-panel controls. Eight programmable Mod knobs are customised to bring out the most in every sound, for real-time performance and also when saving results as new patches. Pitch bend and modulation wheels, and the unique Vector Joystick, give you instant access to multiple dimensions of real- time expression.
Wave Sequencing 2.0
Wave Sequencing 2.0 separates the timing, the sequence of samples, and the melody, so that each can be manipulated independently. It also adds new characteristics, including shapes, gate times, and step sequencer values. Each of these is a “Lane” and each Lane can have a different number of steps, and its start, end and loop points.
Gigabytes of samples
Totalling in the gigabytes, Wavestate SE’s sample library is vast. At a thousand times larger than that of the original Wavestation, the amount of great-sounding raw material for Wave Sequences is astounding. Three of the key sound designers from the original Wavestation, John Bowen, John “Skippy” Lehmkuhl (Plugin Guru), and Peter “Ski” Schwartz, joined Belgian artist Airwave and the renowned Korg voicing team to create the incredible Wavestate SE sound library.
Powerful effects
An arsenal of superb effects ensures Wavestate SE delivers production-ready sounds. Each performance has a master reverb and parametric EQ while each layer has three dedicated effects. Alongside compressors, EQs, choruses, flangers, phasers, and stereo delays, you’ll find distinctive processors such as the Wave Shaper, Talking Modulator, Reverse Delay, Multiband Mod Delay, and Overb, plus modelled effects including Vox guitar amps and wah pedal, multi-head tape echo and a collection of other classic guitar pedals.
Multiply by four
Take all that power, and quadruple it! You can layer up to four Programs together in a Performance–each with their own effects and arpeggiator. The Vector Envelope and Joystick mix the individual voices of the four layers, and can also modulate any other parameters. This sheer sonic power is further enhanced with 120 notes (stereo) of polyphony.
Randomisation that inspires
A dedicated front-panel button, marked by a “dice” icon, generates new sounds via intelligent randomisation. Randomise the entire sound or just a part of it (such as the filter, Sample Lane, or effects).
Deep connectivity
Connect to recording or monitoring systems with balanced stereo outputs, and a stereo headphone output is provided for private playing or onstage cueing. Din-style MIDI jacks ensure connection to other MIDI-equipped instruments and audio gear. The Wavestate SE supports class-compliant USB MIDI connections to Windows and Mac computers, and the Wavestate SE Editor/Librarian and Sample Builder programs are available as free downloads from Korg.

Whether travelling to a studio or setting out on a world tour, ensure your Wavestate SE arrives safely with the included hard case. The custom design even provides space for cables and pedals.
Wavestate Editor and Librarian
Wavestate SE comes with a free Editor/Librarian. This acts as a second front panel for the keyboard. Real-time display of modulated parameter values and Wave Sequences gives you instant feedback on your creations. Copy and paste sounds, envelopes, LFOs, filter settings, and more. Dive deep into Effects with access to all internal parameters and create your own effects presets.
Free software
The Wavestate SE comes with a diverse variety of music software from Izotope including “Ozone Elements” which lets you not only create songs but also master them using AI, “Skoove” which will help you improve your keyboard playing skills, as well as software synths from Korg and other brands. The moment you get your hands on this synth you’ll have a variety of tools to help you take your music to the next level.
