Ludwig Drums is extremely proud to celebrate the 50thAnniversary of its iconic Vistalite Drums with an explosion of colour, by introducing a stunning and exclusive new ‘Limited Edition’ series of 5 unique patterns, each limited to only 25 kits worldwide.

The new patterns draw upon and add a fresh twist to the Vistalite heritage of the past 50 years.

Announcing ‘Limited Edition Colours of the Year’, 2022 also sees the return of collector favourites, Red and Green as standard colours for the first time since 2009, plus the introduction of two new snares limited to 50 units each: The ‘Salesman Sparkle’ and ‘Limited Edition Pattern E’.

Launched in 1972, Ludwig’s translucent Vistalite drums were designed for the new and exciting 1970’s era of fashion and music, and soon became a ‘Clear’ favourite! Creating an iconic look and powerful width of sound unmatched by traditional wood-shells, Ludwig continued to take acrylic drums to new heights when it became the first drum manufacturer to introduce pattern, multi-colour options as part of its finish assortment in 1975.

The 50-year history of Vistalite Drums boasts taking centre stage with legendary drummers John Bonham (Led Zeppelin), Keith Moon (The Who), Nick Mason (Pink Floyd) and Billy Cobham, plus featuring in the spotlight on some of film and TV’s biggest hits over the past 5 decades.

The Vistalite legacy now continues with current Ludwig drum artists including Patrick Carney (The Black Keys), Ethan Torchio (Maneskin), Patrick Keeler (The Raconteurs) and Dave Hidalgo Jr (Social Distortion).

Notorious for their attack as they are for their stunning crystalline looks, Vistalite acrylic drums are a statement both sonically and visually. Vistalite drums are produced to highest construction standards with reinforced seams and crisp bearing edges for optimum shell integrity and tuning range.

We tapped into our roots to create a unique banded, sparkle-infused, acrylic shell in the spirit of one of Ludwig’s most coveted finishes from the early ’60s. A statement piece visually, this drum performs with immense presence, focus, and attack. Limited to 50 units worldwide!
