Tascam is pleased to announce the debut of an SDXC memory card with a capacity of 128 Gigabytes. The TSQD-128A is optimised for use with the company’s wide range of products that utilise SD cards as a storage medium for audio recording. Each card is tested and pre-formatted by Tascam prior to shipment to ensure optimum performance and is ready to use with guaranteed compatibility.
The TSQD-128A supports the UHS-I (Ultra High Speed) standard resulting in high-speed performance with a maximum transfer rate of 95 MB/s (read) and 85 MB/s (write). The use of a customised media card for recording reduces the effects of file fragmentation and slow random access that can occur with repeated use. This has been achieved by conducting in-house evaluations of the original media and then selecting media that is resistant to repeated random access. Tascam engineers have worked closely with the media manufacturer to ensure that each SD card contains exactly the specified components (control ICs, memory devices, etc.) that have been verified to work with Tascam products. This reduces the risk of incompatibility due to different production runs and ensures high stability for use with all Tascam products that require such storage media.
The TSQD-128A provides a minimum speed of 30 MB/s with support for UHS Speed Class 3 and Video Speed Class V30. As the manufacturer points out, the card is also ideally suited for SDXC-compatible devices from other manufacturers and offers high stability and reliability there as well.
