The biggest event on the UK’s drumming calendar, The UK Drum Show, has announced the first two main-stage artists confirmed to be joining them at The ACC Liverpool over the weekend of 30 September / 1 October 2023.
Louie Palmer
Louie Palmer – Saturday 31 September 2023 @10.00am
Originally from London, Louie Palmer is a renowned jazz rock drummer who currently resides in Los Angeles, California. Palmer began playing the drums at the age of 5 after being introduced to them by his father, who is also a drummer.
Louie attended Berklee College of Music as a scholarship recipient. With a career spanning almost three decades, Palmer has performed with legendary artists such as Mike Stern, Randy Brecker, Jason Rebello, Gary Husband, Tim Lefebvre, Luis Conte, Mitch Forman, Bob Franceschini and many more.
In addition to performing, Palmer records for clients around the world from his studio in Los Angeles and he is the founder of the online drum school PlayBetterDrums.com. The school is utilized by thousands of professional and aspiring musicians from around the world to improve their ability on the drums.
Louie endorses Pearl drums, Meinl cymbals, Pro Mark sticks, Evans drum heads and sE microphones.
Louie will be appearing on the main-stage on Saturday 31 September 2023 at 10.00am
Richard Spaven
Richard Spaven – Saturday 31 September 2023 @11.15am
With roots in the U.K. club and hip-hop scenes, Richard Spaven brings a fresh approach to the instrument that’s at once modern and traditional.
Combining machine-like accuracy with jazz-influenced improvisational sensibilities, Richard Spaven’s drumming has landed him gigs with vastly varied artists such the late Guru of the hip-hop duo Gang Starr, producer Flying Lotus, electronica/jazz group the Cinematic Orchestra, jazz/hip-hop vocalist José James and Brainfeeder artist Jameszoo. Spaven’s brilliance is evident beyond his world-class performance abilities; he’s equally impressive in production and compositional territories. And most recently, the drummer released his fourth solo album, Real Time, which once again showcases his multifaceted talent.
